The Residential Crisis Program at Cornerstone Montgomery, Inc. meets individuals in psychiatric crises where they are. It supports recovery by allowing clients to stay in the community while receiving help, including medication adjustments, counseling, and 24-hour support. Clients can continue their daily lives, such as working and spending time with family, while receiving care. Staff are available around the clock.
A National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) study found that this program is as effective as a psychiatric ward but at less than one-third the cost.

Angel’s Watch Shelter in Charles County, MD, provides safety and new beginnings for women and children escaping domestic violence or homelessness. The shelter protects the identities of residents and offers one-on-one support to help them achieve independence.
Referrals are accepted from Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary’s counties, as well as local agencies. The facility is open 24/7 and offers case management services, including budgeting, life skills workshops, and counseling sessions to promote self-sufficiency.

Safe Harbor provides comprehensive services for victims and survivors of domestic violence, rape/sexual assault and child abuse. Safe Harbor is a shelter for abused women and children which provides a safe and secure shelter in which they can re-build their lives in a violence-free environment. Safe Harbor operates with the support of the Calvert County Commissioners, The Calvert County Health Department, Safe Harbor Inc, and private donations from the community.

Three Oaks Center offers comprehensive support to combat homelessness through various programs.
The Street Outreach engages individuals living in unsheltered locations, ensuring their basic needs are met while guiding them toward stable housing.
Emergency shelters provide immediate support and short-term stabilization for those facing economic or domestic crises, helping them transition to long-term housing.
Prevention services offer financial assistance and counseling to prevent eviction, with case managers mediating with landlords as needed.
The Rapid Rehousing program helps individuals and families quickly secure permanent housing, ideally within 60 days of becoming homeless.
The Permanent Supportive Housing program provides long-term housing and supportive services for chronically homeless individuals and families, particularly those with disabilities, combining stable living with necessary support to address long-term needs.

The Shelter Plus Care Housing Program is a federal grant program that provides rental assistance to homeless, mentally ill individuals and/or their families who may be involved with the criminal justice system. The program in Calvert County provides assistance and sponsor based rental assistance (through the Southern Maryland Community Network). The Mental Health Clinic also provides case management and mental health treatment to this population.

The Housing Authority of Calvert County (HACC) administers federal Housing Choice Vouchers. HACC's Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program allows low-income families to rent quality housing in the private market via federal funds provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Through the HCV Program, HACC pays a portion of eligible families' rent each month. These payments are made directly to the property owner/manager. Participating families can use their vouchers to rent a house or apartment from private property owners throughout Calvert County. This program helps families realize their potential and cultivate their personal, economic and social skills to support the transition from subsidized to non-subsidized housing.
As of September 2024, there is a 5-year waitlist for this program.

Project ECHO, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing hope for the homeless in Calvert County, Maryland. It offers emergency shelter and supportive housing for individuals and families experiencing homelessness. Through community support, Project ECHO provides food, clothing, and toiletries for all residents, and often for former residents as well.
The shelter, ECHO House, has 38 beds in family suites and dorm-style bedrooms, with every resident receiving personalized case management throughout their stay. Clients are connected to employment and education programs, as well as health and wellness professionals.
