Calvert County Family Network

Calvert County Family Network (CCFN) serves as the Local Management Board (LMB) for Calvert County. Established in 1990 under Article 49D and funded through the Children’s Cabinet Interagency Fund, Local Management Boards (LMBs) operate in all 24 Maryland jurisdictions, including Baltimore City. CCFN operates with oversight from the Calvert County Government Department of Community Resources. The core function of the LMB is to identify priorities and allocate resources to promote the well-being of Calvert’s children, youth, and families. CCFN brings together local child-serving agencies, child providers, clients of services, families and other stakeholders to address the needs of the community.

The Calvert County Health Department promotes and protects the health of all county residents by preventing illness, eliminating health hazards, and collaborating with community partners to improve access to essential resources. In addition to enforcing health laws, particularly concerning environmental health and communicable diseases, the department offers a wide range of beneficial services. These services include comprehensive behavioral health services such as mental health and substance abuse treatment; prevention and intervention programs for chronic conditions like heart disease, diabetes, and cancer; maternal and child health programs; vaccinations and family planning services; communicable disease surveillance and response; application support for Medical Assistance and the Children’s Health Insurance Program; transportation coordination for Medical Assistance; and crisis services through the Crisis Intervention Center.

Calvert County Interagency Council

The mission of the Calvert County Interagency Council is to unite local agencies, non-profits, and businesses to collaborate, network, and share information to empower children, youth and families in Calvert County. Formed in the early 1990s, the Council is comprised of representatives from over 50 local child and family-serving agencies and providers. A steering committee provides oversight.  The Council holds a meeting the first Monday of the month, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the College of Southern Maryland, from September to June. Meetings feature an "inspiration," a special presentation about new or revamped programs and services, and end with agency sharing. Council members have an opportunity to provide input on goals and planning during meetings, and this feedback led to the development of OurCalvert. Steering committee members played an active role in the design and review processes for OurCalvert, and Interagency Council members are committed to using the site to its full potential.

Calvert County Public Schools

Calvert County Public Schools (CCPS) ensures excellence in education for our students through meaningful collaboration and engagement of all Calvert County Public Schools stakeholders, including parents, students, staff and the community. As the 13th largest among the 24 school systems in the state, CCPS consistently ranks among Maryland’s top districts based on state assessments. As education evolves in the age of computers, tablets and smart phones, our methods for sharing information should evolve alongside it. Providing families and student services staff access to real-time, mobile-friendly resources can be instrumental in addressing children’s needs, creating a more stable foundation for learning.

Calvert Library’s mission is to empower individuals by facilitating lifelong learning and to strengthen our community by providing opportunities for connection to one another and the world. This mission is pursued by providing a wide variety of materials, classes and services that are accessible through our physical buildings, our digital presence and our outreach. Calvert Library has four locations throughout the county (Solomons, Prince Frederick, Owings and Chesapeake Beach), plus a mobile services library. Librarians regularly answer questions and make referrals for citizens in need of services, and a local and up-to-date resource website will be an asset to our community.
