Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) offers members the opportunity to purchase a ‘subscription’ for weekly or monthly boxes of produce. Members pay in advance, providing farmers with the necessary funds to sustain their farm throughout the season. Depending on the CSA, your ‘subscription’ may be delivered to your door or picked up at a central location. CSA produce ranges from veggies and fruits to meats, eggs, flowers and seafood items. In order to promote their goal of connecting people to the land, the American Chestnut Land Trust (ACLT) began a small Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) farm, producing vegetables for shareholders from May through October. Produce grown covers the full spectrum from arugula to zucchini and includes many heritage types from around the world as well as traditional main crop garden varieties.
